AMD - No DirectX 12

    AMD - No DirectX 12

    Posted: 14 Apr 2013
This is a strange story that is difficult to make sense of. An AMD Vice President of Global Channel Sales, Roy Taylor, has said that there will be no DirectX12 at any time in the future.

Of course you could say what does a VP of Global Channel Sales know about what Microsoft is up to, even if he did work for NVIDIA for ten years previously. On the other hand, why would he say something so provocative in an interview with German magazine, Heise.de.

Heck I don't know if MS will even include DX 11.1 let alone DX 12 on the most popular Windows for 7 years ahead.

Its not a great issue,,, it just conveys that directx 11 is sophisticated enough that there is no need of the newer version or kinnda it has reach to the optimum level,,,....
Also may be directx is being replaced by new software with new name and better performance in the future,,,,,,

There's no need for it. The answer is down to one word: consoles.

Why continue to be several generations ahead when the capabilities are by and large just being wasted?

DX10 was meant to be the 'next best thing'. It simply wasn't.

DX11 was the new graphic Jesus. Despite better support than DX10, DX11 is still under utilised. It will remain that way until the next console is released which will be the new 'DX9' in regards to limits.

On the plus side at least pc/console graphic disparity will be diminished. It will be native coding, not the 'patch' most DX11 titles are.
