No, Windows 7 isn't slower than Vista, even at booting

Cheers whs il take this one - SSD Just let me know when youve posted it.

But seriously they are far to expensive just now, i and many others will have to wait.

Over 600 quid is indeed a lot. I paid $219 for my 60GB OCZ Vertex - in the US at Newegg. For the difference you could make a trip there.

The thing is, you're talking 60/80gb for $250. I'm talking 2tb server grade for about $180.

Zen, I guess it is a matter of whether you want a Ferrari or a Pick-up. Both are useful vehicles but serve different purposes. SSDs are really for technology freaks or for people that are really in a hurry. And both must have a certain amount of change.

Hmmm....the servers that I use at my job (HP Proliants), use 10,000-15,000 RPM enterprise SAS drives and at 300GB they run about $700 each

While 80GB at $250 is expensive, for me it was a worthwhile upgrade. My system is so much faster at "everything" that I cannot complain. While using a 1TB WD Caviar Black as a secondary drive holding data, page files and the like, my 80GB drive only has about 30GB on it for the OS, all of my apps and the games that I am currently playing. So, more than enough space for the time being.

Anyways, I'm just waiting for 80gb for $100, then I'll bite.

I don't blame you there. For me, I just really wanted to see what the hype was all about. I wanted to get some real personal hands-on experience with the technology. I don't usually splurge for really high end hardware...but rather just upgrade the whole box every 2-3 years and get something established with a price that has already dropped.
