Could of Made was a left handed sardine slayer from the old planet. He was assigned to earth to work with the I.R.S. to cut off the gooblygobs off of companies that don't pay their taxes. At the present time Could of Made has a eye for Apples gooblybobs.

I wouldn't mind them dumping some serious cash in R&D and come up with something better than touchscreens, that possibly isn't a colossal flop until Apple adds the usual finishing touches and adds it on its trophy wall.

But MS being what it is, I doubt it is the case. They are likely going The Apple Way (tm)

    Hi there.

Since when does the I.R.S have jurisdiction over Planet Earth -- AFAIK the USA doesn't (yet) control any legal institution representing Planet Earth - The UN currently is about the only body that could conceivably take on that role but when you have countries such as Rwanda having the same voting powers as the USA I doubt if the USA takes that organisation very seriously except when they feel it's in THEIR interest.

I don't see ANY problem with individuals OR companies minimizing their taxes - if it's done within the applicable laws -- if people don't like what Starbucks etc are doing then change the laws -- and in any case for example if these companies are avoiding paying tax LEGALLY I would applaud them if by doing so it yields less money for people to waste on such stupid "adventures" like the ill fated war on Iraq or poking their fingers into Syria - Assad's regime might be odious but I can assure you it was like Switzerland compared with Saudi Arabia who the West still wants to be friends with -- even if they don't need the oil so much any more (Fracking / Shale Gas etc -- reduced dependence on Saudi Oil now).

At least Ms gets on with the job and nobody can accuse the founder (Mr Bill Gates) of not putting anything back into the planet --the Gates foundation probably pays more to charity etc than loads of entire countries combined.

    Cheers

It was a joke folks. There is no such thing as a old planet and the word gooblybobs I made up.
The joke has nothing to do with other countries or governments.

If Apple is paying taxes as per the laws of our nation that is fine with me. If the laws need to be changed we have a Congress for that job.

I think you got it right. He will have to back to Windows 7 to find a place to Start.

    Hi there
Still don't understand all this stuff about the START button -- why do you need a START button to POWER OFF the machine -- doesn't seem logical to me -- but I suppose parts of English aren't logical such as at a sports venue you SIT in the STANDS, or you don't fall over in the LOWER SLIPS in an opera house etc.

Of all the things W8 has thrown at it the Start button issue really is a non starter -- although it's come back in Windows 8.1.

Language isn't about logic, it's just arbitrary code meant to convey a concept. Being arbitrary, when everyone agrees that "XYZ" means something then it does not matter that if you examine the word's purely literal meaning you start scratching your head. That's how language evolves with time, any word can be traced back to something more or less ridiculous. So yeah, legacy triumphs over logic.

Besides, if it wasn't like that you would be dumping all the word plays and jokes that stand on that. Would be a sad world then.

I finally watched this video after hearing about Steve Ballmer's onstage antics. Wowza. He skipped Starbucks and went straight to the meth lab trailer.

Good grief! That might help explain Microsnot's decline.
