What is RAS? I don't have it in IE10.
Remote Access Service, otherwise known as dial up.

OK, thanks, I do have dial up listed in internet options, no RAS, that's in Services.

I don't want anything to do with dial up. Too many nightmares will come flooding back! Stop the torture! D:

RAS is the service that accepts the connection.
Dial up is the process that makes the connection.
But people sometimes just call it a RAS connection.

The one thing that I liked about dial up was - it was free for me.
There were no additional monthly costs

Yup, yet the difference here is that it is a PPPoE 'dialup' over WiFi and through the router (in bridge mode) and the ADSL wire, when the remote server configures you network connectivity - gives you the IP address, gateway address, DNS servers addresses.

It is a 'dialup', mates, but at broadband speed.

I'm glad that you took that on. I did not want to explain that dial up covered more than the old modems.

Funny, gadgets were still fully functional on my end.

What drove me nuts was that they removed the RAS Autodial GUI in IE11, (Connections tab in Internet options)........
It looks to be there in IE11 in my VM of W8.1
