Steve Ballmer has made it official that he will be retiring in (12) months. Microsoft has not named it's successor, yet ! (Article)

"Microsoft says CEO Steve Ballmer will retire in 12 months; stock rises"

Hilarious! Shows how popular Ballsmore is. The only thing that worries me is how much more damage he can do in the next 12 months. And who will replace him? He's already fired the good choices.

I hope he can afford it and doesn't have to go on food stamps.

    And who will replace him?
Good question. They may need to get someone from outside. Alternatively, if the shareholders are confident they will have control, they may accept someone internal.

Be careful what you wish for

Who is going to replace him?

    Tami Reller?

    Julie Larson-Green?

The software company said its board had appointed a special committee to direct the process of appointing a new CEO. The committee is chaired by John Thompson, the board's lead independent director, and includes Microsoft founder and Chairman Bill Gates, as well as other board members Chuck Noski and Steve Luczo. It will consider both external and internal candidates and is working with executive recruiting firm Heidrick & Struggles International Inc, according to the company.
Maybe some of the hotshots that left MS will get a chance to come back. Hopefully they will find someone soon as Ballmer will leave as soon as the new guy takes over.
