well i perservered. basically when i 1st did the oscdimg it left me with a file that looked like a sheet of paper with a corner folded ..... n it was simply titled 'file' ..... i cud do nothing with it.

BUT like i said, i perservered n retried again, this time i copied what the person typed in2 cmd but removing the space in c:windows 7.iso .... so it read c:windows7.iso, SUCCESS!!!!

thank u, i am now runnin 32bit windows 7 pro flawlessly

just a question thats off topic slightly ...... how many machines can i run my version of 7 on??? cos im also runnin the rtm version on my master computer n id like 2 make it the real thing, but obviously only if it's legal n allowed
Let me ask you this... how many people can drive a car with your license? Look you've answered your own question.

Seriously though I has issues getting the files convert as well and I generally know what I'm doing on a computer. I don't know why MS just didn't make an ISO. Sometimes they do stupid stuff all though it may be that Digital what ever companies fault who knows.

Definately a better way of looking at it. Though I guess it's also a question of how many cars your insurance policy allows you to drive ;-p.

Would be good to know the answer, although I assume at that price it would be only one.

What I said was how many people can drive with your license? The answer is and it wasn't a trick question ONE. I didn't ask how many people can drive your car because anyone can drive a car. Can someone else use your license? NO they can't its one person just like one computer per license. 3 people can't share your license can they? You can't use on key on 3 computers. Its still you? Not if you give your license to someone else.

I went from Vista 32bit to 7 64bit and was having the same error in all the previous posts. After I read the tech support and FAQ pages, I found out that according to Digital River, the supplied download will not work when going from 32-64 bit. They say you have to do a clean install. After further reading, I found out this can be accomplished with an ISO file, which they will supply you with if you contact their customer support. I simply sent an email saying I was going from 32-64 bit and wanted the ISO link. Two days later, I got an email with the requested link. I burned the image to DVD using Roxio, and had 7 up and running later that evening.

They should have that information spelled out more clearly, I wasted at least six hours, if not more trying the original download. Not to mention getting highly aggravated. Also, I wish I had seen the 7 Professional offer before now...

again with the patronising by usin a lame analogy....... i understand that ur tryin 2 make ur point that the license is valid with only ONE machine, what irks me is the way u go about sayin it
im not pc iliterate, im trainin 2 become an it practitioner ... BUT ur analogy is seriously flawed ....... iv not once mentioned allowin others 2 use my license so "not if you give your license to someone else"
the simple answer u cudda given was ' no im afraid you can only use yoru license on one machine'
instead of attemptin 2 b funny n patronisin me

basically if i own 3 computers i SHUD b able 2 use the same license key on all 3 seeing as they all emanate from the same address, which microsoft cud quite easily find out ...... IF i gave my key out 2 others then YES ur analogy wud b accuratei would b 'lettin other people drive usin my license' but im not n never would do

i own 3 machines (cars) n im usin MY license.

    on another note

is there not a way where i can upload MY iso 4 others 2 use??? i wouldn't b givin my serial key out just givin people an iso of windows 7, where they can download n burn off and use their own serial key...... again not sure if that is ilegal or not, im just tryin 2 help others who hav paid money 4 something they have problems using

Enough with the bickering. Please!! You can only use 1 license per machine. Now that's clear. If you choose to copy your iso and give it to others nobody can stop you. However, they will need their own key to activate it. My own opinon is that you are walking on thin ice. First you ask if you can use the same key on multiple machines, now you're asking if u can copy your iso and give to others. If, as you claim, your "trainin to become an IT practitioner" (whatever that means!!) you are tip toeing the fine line between legal and illegal. I think you're playing dumb and you know the answers to these questions and are looking for a way around them. I will be reporting this thread to the Admin should I continue to feel this way about your posts

i asked if i was able 2 put MY windows on MY other computer, found out i couldn't so havn't used it on said computer.
n as 4 me 'copying' my ISO ..... i NEVER said anything at all about copying my ISO, i asked if it was possible to upload my iso 4 users of this site 2 download IF they still encounter problems from digital river, .... maybe that was naivety on my part but i would NEVER encourage or condone illegal use of software.
I only asked if i could post the iso because without the serial key the iso is not much use, or am i unaware of something?
it practioner= it technician (im learnin my A+ ..... course is called it practioner) ..... unfortunately we only use xp in college but the serial key is the same 4 all computers in the class hence y i asked if i could do that myself with 7

Microsoft and Digital River themselves provided ISO's for those having issues with the other formats. Anyone who needs them should download them directly. No, you shouldn't go making copies and uploading them yourself. There are direct-from-the-source solutions for problems like that. And if people are paying for the software, it's up to MS / Digital River to be responsible and sort out problems so they don't continue. But they have indeed provided things like these:
