Microsoft Windows 8.2 Scheduled For January 2014

I have to say that no matter what MS does to 8.x I'll be still on 7. I don't like change either.
Now if they made 8.x to look like Win7 and kept the reported better speed of 8 then I would have to reconsider but I'm not thinking that will happen.

If MS actually listened to it's customers feed back from the get go, - actually released a 'beta' with the intent on
listening to feedback rather than just "doing it their way regardless" and releasing "Previews" whilst still ignoring feedback - they wouldn't be in this ridiculous mess they are now. They listened a bit with Seven's development. Official betas and non official. With 8 they completely ignored all consumer feedback
What a flap up of major proportions.
It's the consumer who should dictate major product features. Not some executives with a "vision"
Be about time they listened to somebody for a change, like asking us what we want instead of telling us what they want us to want.
Just to chime in for a minute...
If companies exclusively did this there would be no progress (advancement in technology); Why? People hate change.
I do however agree companies should take people's concerns into consideration.... but not to the point of being stagnated.
There are many technologies we never knew we wanted or needed until they showed up.
My two cents.
Sygnus some changes are great, and some changes are just plain stupid.
Many of us were looking forward to W8 with high expectations, myself included, and if W8 had produced intelligent changes, we would've been all over it!
But such was not the case.
I'm tired of this phoney philosophy that the consumer is to blame for not wanting a stupid product.
The blame doesn't belong to the consumers, it belongs to Microsoft, plain and simple.
W8 was not the problem, "one size fits all" was the problem.
W8 is not advanced technology for PCs. It's fine for tablets and phones, but not PCs.

Change just for change's sake is rarely good. I have no issue with change as long as it benefits me. Rapid change, like M$ is doing with Win 8, is always expensive, especially for businesses.

Not all change is good.
Not all change represents growth in technology.
If they had designed W8 with a built in choice of desktop or mobile interfaces, people would've bought it.
Putting the wrong interface on an OS is not progress, it's reverse technology.
When they tried putting W7 on phones, people didn't call it "progress", they called it stupid, and they didn't buy it.
So now they've done the exact opposite, they stuck a tablet interface on a PC and some want to call that advanced technology?
It's just as technologically stupid as putting W7 on a phone.

If I felt this way, I would be an apple user. Not a Windows user. Because according to apple, we don't know what we want. They need to tell us. Well guess what? I DO. And it involves using a OS that is not made for a 4 year old. It also as well should not be missing several critical features. (Like shadowcopies) The problem lies in informing the company constantly what the user wants, and them not listening.

-I am starting to feel like Microsoft needs to drop the whole please everyone crowd and start focusing on businesses and the enthusiast crowd. The average person does not even know what Windows is, or what version they are running. (Ask someone in tech retail) Probably 70% of them do not even know what they can do with it other then to click the E for internet. These are the users who are saying to themselves, yay! I don't have to deal with this giant thing anymore to access the internet, I can get a tablet!

Well their a lot of rumors.
All I know is until Microsoft settles down and makes a operating system desktop users and business can use with out changing or upgrading every 6 months Windows 7 will rule.
Business will not and can't afford to be changing up upgrading every few months.
I as just a 2 desktop user I'm not going to keep jumping through hoops with the constant upgrades.
Microsoft just make a damn operating system we can use and want.
One we can hang onto for a few years and enjoy.
Hopefully that will be Windows 9.

Jack, that's one reason I have installed 8.1 under VMware Player on an external SSD. Then I need only 1 OS, 1 license and 1 update to run it on all my systems. I just plug the SSD into my caddies and off I go.

as a Windows 7 user for close to 4 years straight, I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon to any new Windows, I have been happy with 7 for that long of a time even though I went through 2 laptops one which still works, but poorly and my current one that I got for Christmas last year, so I have just seen about every major update and Internet Explorer upgrade to Windows 7
