Today the download button/link from the Avira site does NOT redirect to softonic.
From what I see on the Avira forum they are "evaluating a partnership with Softonic".

I downloaded Avira free from MajorGeeks and I'm using it now on XP.
The MG Authors Site download location doesn't work for me - 404 error.

Millions of computers run Windows XP.
XP will die when every computer running it is in a landfill.
    Until then it rolls on.
