Funny do you think Microsoft has ever heard of Google Drive ?
Seems another law suite awaiting the filing system :)
Read more at: Microsoft rechristens 'SkyDrive' as 'OneDrive' | ZDNetMicrosoft just announce the awaited replacement name for SkyDrive, its cloud storage service.
As first spotted by Rod Trent at Windows ITPro, the new name is "OneDrive." Microsoft is confirming the new name in a January 27 blog post.
OneDrive.com, a preview site, notes that "OneDrive is coming soon."
"Get ready for an even better place to store and share your favorite things across all your favorite devices," reads the text on the site. "OneDrive is everything you love about SkyDrive and More and it's coming soon."

LOL at the picture. It's so funny that Microsoft is kind of telling that most people are using MacBook Pros as their laptops :)
Thinking about a bit deeper tells me that Microsoft wants to show us that OneDrive is accessible on any device and any OS.
I don't know if it's true or not but I heard Microsoft did get it's touch screen technology from Apple ?
Cheers.
Thanks for the info sir...
I just hope it provides more options than the SkyDrive version under Windows 8.1. The Win 7 desktop version had more options, and you were able to add PC's to it and remotely access files off them, sort of like a VPN. Hopefully this feature is put back with the new release, especially under Windows 8.1. They also need to bring back live tile under 8.1, something that went missing with the update.
Look forward to seeing what they did.
SkyDrive tends, (the same as Google Drive), to lack sophisticated admin tools, such as document permissions and password-protected files.
Thus the hoping it improves. That said, if you know what it is, you use it accordingly. I for example would never put anything up there I'd lose sleep over it were compromised. But yeah, better security is always nice
Anyway I mainly use it for syncing and accessing my school work between my laptop and desktop. Works like a champ in that regards
Using 8.1-
i would like to see the green/blue uploading tick icon overlay return and a icon in systems tray with the uploading status, nice to know when something has finished so you can shutdown and go out etc.
Sync settings is one of the main reasons I haven't been interested in SkyDrive/ OneDrive desktop,
But as a service it's one of the most generous storage clouds available,
Especially for people with Hotmail addresses a whopping 20 gig's and 7 gig's for newbies,
Links posted anywhere never expire unless a user moves the file in OneDrive,
No popups,
Cheers.
