Statistically speaking, Windows 9 should be great according to the one on one off Microsoft have been having over the years...

I ended up going back too Windows 7, still can't beat it?
I don't know what the hurry is. Vista PCs seemed to hang on the shelves forever at Best Buy. I kept putting off buying waiting for the SP1 preload. Finally I giae up and bought one. Like a month later SP1 comes out and won't go on the thing. I buy a 64 bit Vista SP1 PC. Windows 7 comes out. Fine. I like the Taskbar progressbar thingy, jump lists etc. So before even an SP2 they dump it for W8. Same deal again. One service pack and out.

It seems like a lot of churning, except for the fact the looks and features decline instead of improve. The technical improvement I see is GPT. Seems like they could have stuck that onto W7 SP2 if they wanted. But then no up front cash from current users.

Although I plan of staying with Win 7 until sometime in 2019, I'm also looking forward to Win 9 just to see if M$ comes to their senses and realize that their "vision" isn't what people want or need. That would give me hope that M$ will have a decent OS by the time I'm ready to leave Win 7.

What would be really great is if they put back Aero Glass and 80% of what they took out of 7 and 8..

oh, and did I mention Aero glass?

Sadly though, M$ doesn't generally suffer from "coming to their senses"...

They need to release two versions.
Windows 9 Desktop and Windows 9 Touch
Until this happens, anything else will be crap.

Odd as it may seem, I never liked Aero glass and have it shut off on both of my Win 7 machines. However, the UI formerly known as Metro is the opposite extreme and is equally distasteful to me.

It can even be one version with a choice of UI. But expecting one UI to work well with both desktop and touch is unrealistic.
