I have been around operating systems since their birth in the early 60's. In fact I wrote part of one of the very first OS in 64 - IBM /360 BPS.

When I use this Kinder-UI of 8.1 on my desktop it feels like walking around in one of my wife's skirts in Scotland. It does the job but it sure feels funny.
If I want a tablet UI, I use my Nexus. At least Android can do the job in 256MB of RAM and the UI feels natural for that device. Try to use that on your desktop - it's a mess. I run Andoid x86 in VMware Player. It is no fun.

I will bet it looks funny also.

As long as I have my OEM shoulders (which are well out of warranty), a tablet UI for my desktop monitor is NOT going to happen.

    Since I'm running Windows 7 & 8.1 it's well enough :)

They should offer Windows 9.o as a free upgrade for 8.1 users, not request another $80 promotion price. I'm beginning to question what more can you do with a OS Gui when you look at Windows & Linux and OSX. IMO when you are extremely tired and you need to do something you shouldn't have to go though hoops to do it, that is not to say you should make an OS extremely easy to use, but enough so that when you need to do something quick when either you are extremely sick with a flu or extremely tired you can do it, fast. Unless you are a newbie at a computer.

Linux has more GUI's than you can poke at stick at
win8 has start8 which uses old win7 gui code.. IIRC
OSX, don't know, don't care 'sorry'

As for easy to use,,,,,,, well isn't that more of what your use to.
Same as when m$ change/upgrade the office apps, It will take a while for a user to get use to the differences.

Not to mention that even, for a simple thing, like switching network type (Private or Public), you need to travel through several clicks until you can change what you want... while in Windows 7 is just 1 click away...
    Annoying... just annoying
