That's interesting, as a lot of my friends are still running XP, despite my advising them to move to Win 7.
SourceAustralians are leading the way in moving away from using Microsoft's 12-year-old operating system, Windows XP, ahead of UK and US users, according to web analytics company StatCounter.
The company's research arm, StatCounter Global Stats, found in January 2014 that despite XP being the world's second most popular operating system in terms of internet usage, only 7.8 percent of Australians still use it compared to 12.4 percent of US and 9.5 percent of UK users.
"Australian computer users are to be complimented for moving faster than the rest of the world in waving goodbye to XP," said Aodhan Cullen, StatCounter CEO.

I have XP installed so that I can use Windows Live Photo Gallery (to tag images/scans) without it "running amok" (like it does in W7).
That reminds me.
I have a few hundred scans that I should tag.
Hi there
rather misleading stats of course
If you have 3 users and one switches then that's 33%, if you have 1,000,000 users then you could have a load more than 3 switching and the % will be far less.
The number of users in AUS is far smaller than in UK or US so these stats are relatively meaningless.
Cheers

Because of the large differences in the number of users between AUS and UK or US, the ONLY valid way to compare them is by percentage so the stats are not relatively meaningless except in a case such as you stated (3 users) since that's too small a sample to draw any valid conclusion. As long as there is a sufficiently large sample then the stat will be relevant.
Populations
China ~ 1.35 billion
US ~ 313 million
UK ~ 63 million
Australia ~ 23 million.
The size of the population has nothing to do with the conclusions. It has to do with the size of the sample set used in the statistical calculations and how it was chosen. A sample set in the thousands is sufficient to give valid confidence levels.
For some reason unknown to me Australia tends to lean towards early adopters in hi tech.
Yeah, I don't see how the number of Australians affects what percentage of them have left XP? A Guy
How many ozzy users have exited WinXp by default or by choice ?
ClassicShell downloads now exceeds 10,000,000 -- somebody is missing XP UI !
