There`s barely any dx11 games and most game developers haven't fully used it to its potential. What's the point of releasing dx12 this early. Honestly I'm hoping more developers take advantage of dx11 burst then move on to something better like opengl which can do what dx11 does and more and is open to all platforms.
Which would not force gamers to get another windows just for some games that happen to use dx12. Gaming shouldn't have to rely on windows to get ahead imo. Doubt ppl who use the pc for regular computing care about dx12 to be honest.
Microsoft should just ditch dx and just use opengl and stop trying to force ppl to get another version of Windows. Just my opinion though feel free to counter my post if you would like. Open to opinions.
Not sure where the idea that there aren't many DirectX titles came from but it's far from true - List of games with DirectX 11 support - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, and this list doesn't even include games such Bethesda's Elder Scrolls Skyrim which has a developer released DX11 texture pack.
That said, I don't see a rash of DX11.2 titles out there as of yet, so 12.... not anytime soon, especially since there aren't any DX12 video cards out yet.
I remember when a new version of Directx was actually exciting, and worth downloading/upgrading hardware to accommodate. when crysis hit the shelves with its Directx10 features i basically ran (in an online metaphorical sense) waving cash in my hand shouting "take it nowwwww"
So, this basically means, no DX12 for Windows 7 as it happened with DX11...
