Remember the desktop PC? Intel is trying to reinvent it

I think you are INCREDIBLY WRONG here -- these mini desktop PC's are actually very useful and fit nicely into small spaces too -- also most are FANLESS which means NO NOISE -- and these devices keep cables as well to an absolute minimum. New Intel low power CPU's will reduce heat and power consumption (Energy as we all know is an increasingly expensive commodity these days - especially if YOU are the bill payer -- my colleagues in the UK estimate Gas + electricity bills have gone up around 300% in the last 4 years or so and I'm sure in most other countries it's the same story) . These CPU's can have 8 cores or more and will also give an I7 a run for its money too.

In NO WAY are these "overblown or Giant tablets".

These PC's are actually selling MORE - and even to businesses although they are brilliant for HOME users.

With 3 and 4TB HDD's you don't need to have loads of HDD's on a machine any more -- easily accessible USB slots make attaching any peripheral easy instead of having to delve at the back of a monster machine on a floor etc and unless you are an extreme gamer the native graphics are more than sufficient even to drive a HUGE 60 - 70 inch external monitor at a good resolution - certainly well able to do Blu ray / full 1080p HD.

I'm actually looking at getting TWO or THREE of these myself -- long time since I bought a desktop PC -- with the large storage capacity HDD's these will make great entertainment centres and home servers too.

The absolute killer here is NO NOISE, SMALL FOOTPRINT and LOW POWER CONSUMPTION .

Standard keyboard and mouse work with these too BTW !!

It's a monitor. With no stand.

It doubles as a serving tray.

Count me excited!

But, tinkering around with your desktop to tweak, rout, add, squeeze , hack and not to mention playing those awesome games & programs that generate enormous HEAT & POWER and being able to get into the guts and fix stuff to run better is THE hobby and Great.
I don't want no giant, powerless pinny anny tablet thing that you can't add to or take away at will. It may be great for businesses but hope it goes there and does not take away the desktop computing fun.
The wheel has been invented and it runs well.
