Which download manager is the best for grabbing the iso? I've never used one actually, any suggestions? And what about the version I should grab? I'm running Win 7 Professional SP1 32 bit, I want to download the version with sp1 already in it relieving me of all extra day long updates.

Professional SP 1 Media Refresh 32 bit English is X17-59183.iso

I didn't use a download manager at all, but I got the download over a year ago and have no idea what problems you may encounter.

The links to Digital River remain down. This is also true for the HeiDoc links. The only link that works, for me anyway, is my account with the Microsoft Store, where I bought the Retail version. The link is a little flaky and may require several attempts to get the version that one paid for. A login is required and will present the user with the Product Key purchased. I will urge those that have the ISO w SP-1 to make additonal copies and store them in a very safe place. My "master copy" as burned by MS is in the vault. The backups and working copy are elsewhere.

For those intersted, the suggestion to buy the OEM edition from Amazon, Tiger or Newegg - it is important to remember that it is a non-transferrable license. There are situations where MS will allow one to install a replacement motherboard, but otherwise who knows.

Most readers on the Forum will be unable to use MSDN unless they buy a subscription or are invited to participate in testing. That site is very finicky about trying to get most anything.

    Hope this helps a little.

dang, ya beat me to it. Now gotta ask, can a person go ahead & download just to have around for when I'm ready to bite the bullet? , don't have all my ducks in a row just yet but was really spooked when it looked like I'd missed the boat by procrastinating too long.

Greg: Did you see the bundle for $90 after rebate? Ends overnight.
Meantime, I cannot get the ISO from Digital River this afternoon.

All downloads now up except Ultimate at Windows 7 Direct Download Links

I saw the bundles at TigerDirect.com including Home Premium bundled with Total Protection AV subscription (free for a year, cancel at any time) for $44. This is the same offer that brought an HP 23" monitor down to $50 recently. But I would not buy that AV. They are counting on people forgetting to opt out after they subscribe w/credit card. Even though Tiger is totally trustworthy I think I'd just buy it outright for $69.
