I think quite a few banks paid up a few weeks back as well, this it turning into a nice little money spinner for MSFT.
Not dead yet: Dutch, British governments pay to keep Windows XP alive | Ars TechnicaWindows XP is supposed to be dead next week. But the Dutch and British governments have both inked deals with Microsoft to continue to keep it on life support, at least for them—under Microsoft’s Custom Support program.

I knew XP wasn't going away just yet :) . I wonder just how many other places are gonna pay for extended XP support.

Yea and Microsoft will have a reason to keep it updated they make a handsome cut off a 10+ year OS
talk about getting your moneys worth
so they pay to keep an outdated OS instead of paying for a new OS? Talk about government waste...
and they only had 6 years or so to switch... allegedly not enough time. the fact they buy that XP support now right 5-to-12 shows they have a lack of planning. they probably wanted to be on new OS by now, but didn't get it done.
I also would be concerned with employee retention and hiring... I assume they also have old PCs. Who would want to work on a single 17"screen with 1 GB RAM and single core CPU?
