As we covered in our previous editorial, Intel would be launching the new Core i7-965 Extreme Edition, Core i7-940 and Core i7-920 processors at 9 am, Pacific Time, November 16, 2008. The three processors are expected to be superseded by faster processors in Q2, 2009.

Three speed grades of the future Intel Lynnfield processors are expected to be launched by Q3, 2009. There are no clock speed details of these three models right now, but here are some features of these Nehalem-based processors :

* Based on the Nehalem microarchitecture
* Uses the new LGA1160 socket
* Supports Intel Turbo Boost Technology
* Supports Intel Hyper-Threading Technology
* 4 Cores, 8 Threads
* 8 MB Intel SmartCache
* Integrated memory controller supporting two DDR3 channels
* Discrete graphics support for 1x16 or 2x8 PCI Express 2.0 slots

Not listed in the roadmap is the Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 processor. It is scheduled to be released in December 2008. For more details, take a look here.
