    Hi there
I STILL don't understand what's wrong with THIS version of windows !!!!! (Scrshot below)

Always worked fine for me - unlike some of the more modern OS'es. !!!

Who needs all this "new fangled stuff" anyway.

    Cheers

Absolutely nothing, of course. As long as it works for you, you may use for as long as there is hardware capable of running it.

There is a fundamental difference between Win1 and XP. XP can do everything Win 7/8 can do, Windows 1 cannot.
Sorry but I think that is incorrect. Off the top of my head: previous versions (the main feature I like that was removed in windows 8), windows backup that doesn't stink, start menu search, aero snap, aero shake, and libraries. etc

OH god I hate pcmatic. Worse scammers ever. Worst software ever.

Funny thing though-count how many times they say pcmatic in the commercial. Here is a hint, it is more then 20 times.

    Hi there

TV finally is getting its come uppance -- anybody under about 35 is deserting it in DROVES (and some older ones like me too).

Actually when I was a youngster (was I ever !!!) I remember the feeling was that if something had to be advertised on TV the product was in trouble as TV was a "Very Low brow" medium".

Even today the best stuff is NEVER advertised on TV -- how many FERRARI commercials on TV do you see for example -- but cheap nasty take away sludge that "passes for food" is advertised almost non stop -- as are cheap "Pay day Loans" with incredible interest rates of around 5000% FIVE THOUSAND % - no typo (yes no kidding !!) and we all know the sort of people those commercials are directed to.

Here's a particularly NASTY one - a South African Business (Nothing against SA by the way -- been there many times and had a good time in spite of articles one might see in the Press - Cape Town - Brilliant) called WONGA operating in the most deprived areas in the UK - Hull. Liverpool, Parts of Newcastle and Manchester and East London seem to be their "catchment areas" which charges interest of around 5,000 (YES FIVE THOUSAND - no typo) percent and uses old "Grannies" on TV commercials to soft sell an EVIL product aimed at the most vulnerable sections of the community. - I think they were chased out of US -- not sure though - but no OFFICIAL legal business in USA can charge these sorts of Interest rates).

    Cheers

Have seen these "Muppet Grannies" on Canadian TV commercials, boasting "It's the latest thing from the UK", makes me cringe to think that it was allowed to expand from there.

Things would have to be really bad to use these robbers ...

Just reread your post that they are from SA ... just as bad though ...

They used to be considered load sharks

Government decided to go after the evil credit card companies instead

City of Houston Texas was attempting to exile these new day loan sharks to the bordering counties,
I believe they paid off the city

Pawn shops have been doing it for years just not at that rate.

I'm keeping XP on my second PC for gaming purposes. I have a small number of games which do not like Windows 7.
