I have never belonged to or been on Facebook but it doesn't surprise me that they would do such a thing.
I Facebook can sell the information they gather in this way the listening is here to stay.
Facebook app now listens and records audio when you post updates from your phone
SourceJust when you think Facebook can’t get any creepier, they push a new feature into one of their apps and prove you wrong. With the most recent update to their mobile app, Facebook can now passively listen in via your phone or tablet’s microphone while you compose a status update.
You may have suspected something was up if you pay attention to the permission notes that pop up when Google Play informs you that your apps need an update. The Facebook app now says it needs permission to access your microphone — along with pretty much everything else an Android app can be granted permission to access.

Let's face it, the US Government could solve all of its "NSA Spying on Citizens" problems by simply purchasing the required info from Facebook, Google, etc..
A lot of people who complain about the NSA fiasco have no problems with faceless mega-corporations doing the same thing.
So what else is new? Seems like everything is watching you nowadays. If X Box isn't analyzing your moves, your smart TV might be listening in & tracking your movements during commercials.
But yeah, creepy & disturbing that now you'll have to "watch your tongue" when on FB. This is why I've never gotten a FB account.
Soon, one day, I'll be alone in the house & sneeze....& a couple of my smart devices will say "Gesundheit."![]()
Sad but true Borg
But I'm sure a bunch of adds will also start popping up too
Adobe flash has always had the access microphone setting,
Cheers.
What I say and do would surely bore someone or my government to tears.......oh well knock yourselves out I say.
Well, for now Facebook can't get me yet. I think I may be the only person I know that hasn't gotten a smart phone yet.
