Chrome overtakes IE to become most popular browser

    Posted: 06 Jun 2014
Google’s Chrome is now the most popular internet browser in the world, according to a new study.

The latest Adobe Digital Index (ADI) report reveals that Chrome, which was already the biggest browser outside of the US, has now overtaken Microsoft’s Internet Explorer in the United States.

According to the study, Google now commands a 31.8 per cent market in the US, up 6 per cent year-on-year. Internet Explorer is down 6 per cent to 30.9 per cent while, Apple’s Safari is the third most popular browser with a 25 per cent share.

Chrome had been miles in the lead for years now on our sites, I've just checked and it currently looks like this:-

    Chrome 48%
    Firefox 22%
    IE 19%
    Safari 4%
    Android 2%
    Opera 1%
    + others

That's everyone right John? Chrome had been leading outside the US for quite some time. These new stats are for the US.

    I'm a 1%er myself :)

That is for the US only, but the rest of the world is much the same.

Interesting how assumedly more "tech savvy" users posting here have long been majority Chrome users. Makes you realize that most "basic" users probably don't even know an alternative browser exists, and just use IE. A Guy

If ie works it works as well as any browser imho,

What matters to me is I don't have Chrome and never will
As far as an alternative browser goes ?
There's always 64 bit epm or In-Private browsing
See I really have three already

IE is a pain in the arse, from a site coding point of view - lots of stuff just doesn't work as it does in the other browsers and I wish MSFT would just kill it off.

FF for me all the way, have been for years. I've used Safari on my iPhone but that doesn't count, and I've never tried Chrome. What's so good about it?

I mostly use Pale Moon (Firefox based browser).
Just curious if it gets counted as Firefox or others ?
