August 12th 2014 Security Updates for Windows
- On August 5, Windows published a Windows blog post discussing its non-security update strategy moving forward, which is now on a monthly cadence as part of Update Tuesday.
- On August 6, IE announced in its IE Blog that it would begin blocking out-of-date ActiveX controls. This feature will be part of the August IE Cumulative Security Update, but no out-of-date ActiveX controls will be blocked for 30 days in order to give customers time to test and manage their environments.
- On August 7, .NET and IE announced that Microsoft will support only the most recent versions of .NET and IE for each supported operating system.

As a heads up; I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of IE crashes after this update. Users with IE HTML tool bars installed will likely be complaining that IE crashes. The only fix is to remove the tool bar.

After you install this security update, the Internet Explorer window may be very slow to refresh and respond when you open consecutive modal windows. This issue affects Internet Explorer 6 through Internet Explorer 11.
Issue 2
If you have an Explorer bar installed, Internet Explorer may crash after the update is installed. This issue occurs when the Explorer bar is an HTML Explorer bar. The following Internet Explorer versions are affected by this issue:
Internet Explorer 11 that is running in Windows 8.1
Internet Explorer 10 that is running in Windows 8
Internet Explorer 9 that is running in Windows 7
Symptom
If the HTML Explorer bar was in use (visible) before the installation, Internet Explorer crashes when you try to start it.
If the HTML Explorer bar was not in use (not visible) before the installation, Internet Explorer crashes when you try to use the Explorer bar.
Workaround
To work around this issue, uninstall the HTML Explorer bar that cause Internet Explorer to crash. To do this, use the Explorer bar's uninstaller.

None to speak of so far,
Although after installing them and then the new flash version acted a little weird when first using it,
Froze everything = hard shutdown after which hasn't happened again ?
Might be a video card driver quirk I did uncheck hardware acceleration before using flash again on the same music video GregRocker posted on the avatars and signatures thread which is where it totally froze windows
Check hardware acceleration back on and no issue :/

Windows Updates Repair
I've had to repair Windows Updates. I'm not sure what the problem was but the first attempt to download updates got stuck on 0% for more than 30 minutes before I gave up and ran a couple of fixes. Currently downloading 11 updates and 62% complete.

You may notice a revision in the XI this month, which aims to better characterize the actual risk to a customer on the day the security update is released.
