It can't be just the KB installs. There must be more to it than that. I installed all three and don't have the problem. I suspect it may be related to video driver quirks but I have not seen a dump and it's still early in the discovery process. The patches made it through MS testing but they can't possibly test the millions of different system combinations.

I've got 2 systems with the blue screen after applying KB2970228. Both are Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit both are based on the same MSI Z77A-GD55 motherboard. Two other computers, with different motherboards are fine.

I wonder if the problem occurs with machines that don't get rebooted every day? I checked that file on my system and it's dated today as of my boot time. There's a lot of unnecessary drivel in the link and still no clue as to why it affects one machine and not others.
The update has gone out to around 80 Lenovo PCs and laptops in my company, not a single BSOD. Same for my BYoS PC and HP laptop at home.
I have two in this thread getting BSODs. I asked one to post in BSOD forum but I don't think he did. Maybe one of you BSOD experts can jump in and get a dump out of them to check it out.
August updates problem
I installed all the updates in one shot, not something I ordinarily do, and ended up with a mess. Sure won't do that again, I must of had a case of brain gas to install them all at once.
My system was generating 50 errors on reboot. A second reboot produced 54 errors most were critical, boot time slowed to over four minutes. I never did get a BSOD but things sure were messed up.
I had to do a system restore in safe mode as it failed under a normal boot.
I reinstalled the MS updates and ended up in the same situation installing one at a time. I did the restore in safe mode again and for now I'm going to wait to see if MS gets this straightened out. The system is back to it's normal boot and running fine.
Interestingly Malwarebytes will not work after a system restore and I had to reinstall it. Then again maybe MS screwed that up as well.
Got to love system restore, when it works.
