Microsoft is busy preparing a "Windows Technical Preview" for later this month, but the software maker is also privately testing an "Office Technical Preview" for the next version of its popular Office suite. Sources familiar with Microsoft’s Office plans tell The Verge that the company has been distributing copies of a future version of Office to partners and testers recently, providing an early look at new features.
New color schemes would be good, the only reason I'm still on office 2010 is the colors/styling of Outlook 2013 make it a lot harder to see my multiple mailboxes clearly.

The only reason I upgraded from 2007 to 2010 is I wanted to get a version of Office I would like that would be good through Win 7's EOL, especially after I saw what 2013 was like.
I'm not sure what a support ending of 2007 would be,
But the only part of 2007 that would be effected I would think would be office outlook not word.... they do not really interact with the internet as far as I know beside creating docs... any email can still send as attachment :/

EOL (End Of Life) of Office 2007 is 10/10/2017. After that, Office will no longer receive any security updates from M$. This will render all of Office 2007, including Word, etc., vulnerable to hacking as new security holes are discovered, same as XP is now vulnerable. Office 2010 will not reach EOL until 10/13/2020.
Even though Office programs, such as Word, Excel, etc. may not directly interact with the internet (although they can and frequently do), any unpatched vulnerability can allow hackers access to a computer from the internet. Whenever one copies and pastes something, say a picture or a block of text, into an Office document, the data is usually not copied to the clipboard. Instead, the Office program being used connects directly to the source of the data on the internet.
Office programs can harbor malware. I had two Word docs I had created get infected with a virus a couple of years ago despite the fact that I had created the docs myself without copying any data from the internet. Fortunately, I was able to copy the data in the docs to new docs without the virus being carried over, then I simply deleted the infected docs.
(As far as Internet is concerned a lot of people use EXCEL to capture real time data from the Internet - but if you are using "Bona fide" well known sites you should be safe).
