    Windows 10 Technical Preview updated, boasts 7,000 changes and fixes

    Posted: 21 Oct 2014
    The latest Build of the Windows 10 Technical Preview is now ready to download.

    There's a new build of the Windows 10 Technical Preview available, for you enterprising early adopters who jumped on the first release. Build 9860 (up from Build 9841) adds a host of new features, squashes some bugs and likely brews up a few new ones.

    Microsoft says that there are nearly 7,000 new improvements and fixes since the first Windows 10 build we checked out a few weeks ago, many of which were based on the handy Windows Feedback app that's bundled with Windows 10.

    If you're already running the Windows 10 Technical Preview, Windows Update will take care of downloading and installing it automatically, depending on your download settings. Those of us who'd rather not wait should head over to the "Update and recovery" section of Windows Update in PC settings and select Preview builds.

    Well, I don't think it is Microsoft's best works to date. It is nice you can pin Metro Apps and open and close them. I like the file explorer that Windows 8 brought to the OS (the ribbon icon).

    But;

    Is start screen from Metro even available?
    What is the point of having a control panel and PC Settings? it is just plain silly.
    Why would the taskbar be transparent, but not the menu? Doesn't make sense.

    those are just few things...

    The Start Menu is a mess and overall it is unattractive IMO. There is no consistency across the interface. It is half (kinda 7) and half (kinda 8). For me it just doesn't fit together. Honestly, I think it may do worse than Windows 8/8.1 did, if there aren't some definite changes.

    Or you can add the switch to the Context Menu. Start Menu or Start Screen Toggle - Desktop Context Menu

    Oh yeah I forgot about that. That just brings up another question, why separate the two? Why not just let us switch without having to login and out? That is another reason I think the design is flawed, it just doesn't flow well.

    Probably because a lot of users wanted just a desktop environment, this eliminates the chance of switching to the Start screen unless you really want to. It's giving you a desktop environment and a touch screen environment independant of each other. I just see that as MS listening to their customers to be honest.

    We asked for choices and Microsoft is giving us choices. W-10 is still very young so their will be many changes.

    I would like to see Start fonts under Personalization so we could change the font size as need be.

    Just one question - do they changed the ugly blue square logo of Windows ?.
