I guess Patch Tuesday is going to take more time out of our lives sorting through/figuring out which updates to apply & what the hell they mean/are doing?

I just wait for Susan Bradley's Patch Watch on Windows Secrets. She runs through them all and if she says to install, I install. If she says to hold, I hold, and if she says to hide, I hide. It makes life so much easier not having to research each one myself - and she does know an awful lot more about it than me :)!

It's the princely sum of $12 per annum.

I strongly recommend Patch Watch, but alongside this forum which has its own fair share of experts on such matters! I wouldn't be without either site these days, they complement each other very well.
