    Last Updated: 01 Jun 2015 at 09:51
On July 29, you can get Windows 10 for PCs and tablets by taking advantage of the free upgrade offer, or on a new Windows 10 PC from your favorite retailer. If you purchase a new Windows 8.1 device between now and then, the Windows 10 upgrade will be available to you and many retail stores will upgrade your new device for you.

The Windows 10 upgrade is designed to be compatible with your current Windows device and applications. We are hard at work to make this upgrade process a great experience. You can reserve your free Windows 10 upgrade now through a simple reservation process. Look for this icon in your system tray at the bottom of your screen, simply click on the icon, and then complete the reservation process. You can find more details on how this works at Windows.com.

    *Reserve* An upgrade?

Does this mean they are limited supply?

No, it just means they want to push it to as many people at the start as they can - creating awareness.

At last the piece of adware junk delivered though Windows update will show up!
We may want to double check for this piece of crapware before it starts popping up.

By the definition of reservation, you are ensuring there is an item available for you, usually indicating limited stock.

If that is not the case, kind of false advertising.. No?

No, it just means they are putting you into the queue for an upgrade notification, by adding you to that queue your spot is reserved although everybody that wants it has a space.

By getting this info now they can plan much easier how much bandwidth will be required on release day/week so the launch doesn't turn into a slow download disaster.

    From the faq

    What happens when I reserve?

When you reserve, you can confirm your device is compatible with Windows 10. Between reservation and when your upgrade is ready, the files you need for the upgrade will be downloaded to your PC to make the final installation go more quickly. Then, when your upgrade is ready after July 29, 2015, you get a notification that lets you get started with your upgrade.

It's really funny, after years of putting all their strength and money into killing off the desktop (and failing miserably), now they emphase the desktop concept to push & sell w10. Good thing is, process has showed consumers and users still has some power :O)

Now, let's see how many (or few) succomb to the 'free' fishing bait :O)

Well, I guess I'll have to tell my family to be careful about this when using the computer because even though I do kind of like some parts of Windows 10, I'll have to wait and see what happens when it's released.

Edit: It seems to be rolling out for Windows 7 first as I don't see it yet on my Win8.1 laptop. Also, is it too late to possibly uninstall the updates?

Edit 2: Maybe it's because KB3035583 didn't get installed on my computer yet? I'll wait until it automatically installs on my PC.
