It's strange that I didn't get the Windows Update notification (in my Sys Tray) even though I have re-enabled Windows Update.

Does anyone know if KB3083710 is safe to install?

As far as I can tell, it seems to be an update for Windows Update.
    Apparently it replaces KB3083324.
Those are OK to install lehnerus. As long as you use the group policy or registry workaround then they're fine to install. I have them all installed on my pc. There isn't really much in those updates, except for a couple of extra files that deal with the Windows 10 download/upgrade offer in Windows update.
It appears that KB3083710, from this Patch Tuesday's offering reset all settings in WU (i.e. your settings included). If you have your group policy or registry workaround set to prevent W10, you will have to redo it. If you do not install it, your settings will remain unchanged. Your choice.

Other aspects of what KB3083710 does remains unknown. MS is in charge - not you.
Not sure what you mean? Hasn't changed any of my settings.

Hasn't changed mine, just checked. Group policy to block 10 upgrade is still in place. Where did you read that? I'm curious.

Check that your Windows 10 upgrade block settings are still in force | InfoWorld

Note: A per the article, it has not impacted every PC. I have this KB installed (just for the record) and I did not receive the update this time around. I also use the script. It is worth checking though as it may depend on how you went about making the change. Why some see the settings changed and others do not is a mystery.

Thanks for the link painter. I'll be keeping an eye on that. If it changes my GP settings it will be removed along with all the other Windows Update Client updates straight away!

Looks like the game of update ping-pong continues!

How to cure computer issues with Microsoft and Windows 10. Stay on 7 till EOL. Download latest Linux Mint Distro install said Distro. If you need Windows run it on a Virtual Machine under Linux or on a computer with the Ethernet disconnected. Out of the Windows Treadmill and where should we hide the controls in this version BS.

ThrashZone, I don't have 7 home, but have learned a lot about this crap today. What's going on?
I know GWX Control Panel has been beat by the latest updates
There is one reg key to check on, not sure if it applies to Home
I suggest you might browse this thread a bit and see if any of it helps you.
