Take that, MS...
Same here. I just turn it on once a month - the weekend following patch Tuesday. I install whatever security updates/fixes I need (ignoring any Windows 10 related updates) and then I disable it again.
But I check https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/894199 regularly to see what's being released.

I still have two KB's on hold because I really can't find enough info.
Does anybody know what exactly they do.
I have read what Microsoft has stated.

KB3118401
KB3121255
KB3118401 is for Visual C++ C Runtime (CRT) for Visual Studio 201. No foul, no harm to install.

KB3121255 relates to the ntfs file handling system and really should be installed.

I'm not getting anything forced on me and I have all the 10 related updates installed on a W7 and W8.1.
Yeah, I believed that the tutorial referenced works well for Windows 7. Then, couple of days ego the machine had a single update:

The KB3035583 update came back, despite it had been hidden for a couple month at the least...

The suspect is a Windows 10 custom update for another W7 box on the same network on 02/26/16. Maybe I forgot to deselect the choice in W10 to share update with other PCs on the same network, unlikely but possible:

That seems like one of the possible the answers, especially when coupled with the aggressiveness of W10 update by MS.

Then there is this... The admin account used for the update did have the update sharing disabled. On the other hand, it was enabled when the standard users account logged on. Not anymore, it is disabled now...

OK, first, you seem to be confused on what that tutorial actually does if I'm understanding you right.

That tutorial, does one thing basically, depending on which option you choose, it will either enable or disable upgrading to a newer OS through windows update, that's it.

Here is the effect of that tutorial,

On the left is enabled OS upgrade, on the right is disabled OS upgrade.

The reason that same update is reappearing is because it is an updated version of it, the tutorial I mentioned has nothing to do with removing or keeping the GWX off your system.

I have a W7 and W8.1 that have had all updates installed except silverlight and skype, they both have the same settings in windows update,

Your PC Will Automatically Download Windows 10 This Week-2015-11-17_18h09_58.png

And they both have had the disable OS upgrade applied, I have all the W10 related updates and nothing being forced whatsoever.

I am not trying to keep the updates off of those systems, I want to see this forced behavior for myself.

Nothing even remotely being forced or coerced.

I have a laptop I just installed W7 on and am not bothering with the disable OS upgrade option.

While it was catching up on updates I just let it run for a few days 24/7 with all boxes checked and auto update as my selection, I did hide the silverlight and skype updates though.

After catching up on all updates, I changed one thing, I unchecked the box to give me recommended updates the same as important. It is still auto updating at 3AM only just important updates.

It's been on for 6 or 7 days now, the only "nag" has been a couple of these notifications,
