Thanks for the welcome Night Hawk.
I'm still staying with Win7 Ultimate with its extra features. I just wanted to see how much difference the install was in actual size on HD as well as memory and loaded programs. Like you siad the upgrade must be installed on a Windows OS and can not be installed on a blank HD. I did read a few trick to get around this but I guess Microsoft wants to keep everyone honest.

Now I have to figure out how to remove the single user selection after recovering from sleep mode. My first install went from sleep right to the desktop.

I also removed hybernation mode and file which makes things start backup from sleep quicker.

I also turned off Restore and Recycle bins for my backup drives. Any thoughts on doing this from anyone?

Anyway I find this forum very informative for all users and will read and learn more each time I visit.

    Have a great day!

P.S. Where is the desert properties you have to sell? :)
I never use hibernation or sleep here being on a desktop that sees a lot of use! In fact the power plans are all set to never turn the display off.

That's due to being busy most of the time. I simply shut everything down for the night or day when done.

For problems seen when coming out of sleep or hibernation plan on a full system restart right away to refresh everything especially device drivers then sitting idle and not active.

I just asked the IT guy at work, and we will not be upgrading to Windows 7 anytime soon.

At least I get to enjoy Windows 7 at home.

It's been a fabulous experience. This is an OS that feels like many smart people actually put their minds together and came up with good ideas.

    been using since ver 7100
    my days are wonderfull =)
i am having a bit of trouble since the last month (moved to x64) but i think it's my new hardware fault =)

Actually when i started using 7100, it was a pain to have to go everyday to work and spend 8 hours per day @ xp.

7 is all i ever asked, an o.s. made for people, i can run 2000000 appz and still don't get my taskbar full + quick tracking the ones i need, i (gladly) don't have to keep remembering anymore in wich of my hdds are the videos i want cause now i got all grouped in libraries....

i'm not sure whatelse to expect from an o.s. now =)

I still one of the RCs(7100 builds) still running on drive here nearly completly full as well as loaded up with more programs then most would see on their own system and it still acts much like a fresh install of Windows! Compare that to anything seen with previous versions? 7 comes out on top every time!

The image here shows much fragmentation from everything being piled onto it as well as having a drive cluttered up quite a bit there. That's 433gb taken up and only 66gb free at the moment on a 500gb sata.

I had some things with compatibility, but fixed them the first days and it has been Mother ****ing GOOD! By the way, about the upgrade offer June 26th, don't believe it, i bought my laptop in April, but I bought the acer offer, and it worked completely fine, you may want to upgrade all your developer products before upgrading.

With me I started with the 7000 beta release so it's been a lot longer than 100 days & haven't turned back since for day to day usage & gaming.
I'm currently running the x64 version of W7U & finally have all the programs, drivers & codecs working perfectly!
The video codecs were the last thing with playback problems but lately DivX put out some new drivers specifically for W7 that fixed the issues with playback!
Now all of my video's no matter the codec play nicely on WMP, WMC, DivX player & my favorite for playing vids, WinDVD 9 HD Plus! Blu-ray!

2 Ulti's 3 Home's all running great. The acid test was having my 83 yr old father install his own update with no problems at all.

I have used most of the Windows offerings since Windows 95 and I must say at last Windows 7 is the best operating system I have installed and used to date. Well done Microsoft.

Had it in for three weeks. Love it. A few little issues and glitches. No biggie. Hope for more support and apps and the such soon.
    Love the new features.
Little slow on the booting up.
