Microsoft: We're planning to double Start menu ads in Windows 10 Anniv

Windows 10 users can look forward to seeing twice the number of ads for apps in the Start menu once Microsoft releases the Anniversary Update this summer.
The Start menu ads, or as Microsoft calls them Promoted Apps, haven't pleased everyone. It's the space on Start menu tiles that Microsoft allocates to suggested apps. But instead of the current five suggestions Microsoft is planning to increase that to 10 in the Windows 10 Anniversary Update.

    Hi,
Yep group policy is probably the only way to keep 10 updates from changing the settings :)

    Say What?

Win 10 sounds to me a great way to reach the masses. Probably will morph into a political tool or a social instructor for correctness. Big brother is really here.

Instead of making it perform better or fixing annoying bugs... more ads?
    What's this? Twilight Zone?

    Just my opinion.

Microsoft wants more Apps; Microsoft need more Apps.
It's a Cash Cow and they want it to grow.

Yep seems like 10 will just get more and more bloated
I reset for the last time yesterday if it borks again there is no sense in reinstalling and trying to use 10 anymore
Games take way too long to install to keep having to reinstall them every time something gets weird
Last string of updates hung at 90% triggering me to reset seeing even a system image did nothing positive.

I used to look forward to MS's new operating systems because I was always excited to see the new improvements. But now it's such a shame to realize that W8 - W10 has ruined all that. Now instead of looking forward to new developments, I dread them. Thanks a lot MS.
I'll run W7 till I can't run it anymore, then I'll go buy an Apple.

Yea I did end up restoring a system image again and just didn't connect to the internet.
Then just didn't use 10 for a nearly 45 days
Started it up with no internet connection and everything was still working
Connected to the internet and everything stayed okay
So go figure I was just about to reset win-10 again had just deactivated mbam premium :)
Not using is actually a good thing
Not sure what update was corrected ?
