That's the update, but they're no longer making updates available on the download center now.

Lehnerus it seems you need to reinstall the ActiveX control again. Or you have the Microsoft update catalog activex plugin disabled.

Go into Internet options and manage add-ons > all add-ons and see if "Microsoft update catalog" is listed.

    Thanks Brds7t7. :)

I don't have any references to "MUC" in the Add-ons Manager and I certainly won't bother attempting to fix ActiveX.

I'll just have to try to download it next time I'm using W10.

I would upload them for you Lehnerus, but I'm only on a tablet right now so can't access them.

This one needs to be installed first or the pack won't install.

"MUC" doesn't work in W10 using IE11 (or PM26 either).

I guess "filthy foreigners" aren't allowed access to such advanced technology.

You won't get any cleaner than this really Thrash. While I have been quite critical of MS decisions lately, I have to say, they've done a good job with this pack. It's mostly security updates and a few recommended. None of the updates on my list have been included, that's what I was initially skeptical about.
Let's face it, there will never be an SP2 and MS were under no obligation to provide this and I'm pleasantly surprised they did.

As for the future recommended update "rollups", well it just means less updates for me to skip

I had to turn off/uncheck protected mode in internet options/security for IE 11 Temporarily to install the MUC add on.

What I am wondering is, does this mean that if I do a clean install of Windows 7 on a 64 bit PC, I can download the "Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3125574)" and instead of waiting for 1, or several hours, to download the Windows Updates, this file will download and install ALL updates up to April of 2016, in a short amount of time??!!??

Could someone please verify this? I am just not sure so I would like a second opinion.

    Thanks.....
    Steve
It installs most of the security updates and some recommended update up until April 2016, you'll then only have a few more to install. It definitely saves time.
So if you kept this on a flash drive or CD you can install those updates quickly. It didn't take long to install for me when I tested it.
So.... help me out a bit here as far as doing the initial install of this update.

If I am doing a clean re-install of my Windows 7, once the OS is installed and before ANY updates are downloaded from Microsoft (besides the convenience roll-up updates we're talking about here), how would I go about getting this update installed from a USB stick? The convenience roll-up update file is an "msu" file and not an exe file.

Thanks for any help explaining how I would install this convenience update before I have my computer check for updates after a fresh OS install.

I did not have to do anything special - like turn off protected mode - to get MUC to work in IE11 on W10.

    Edge failed - as expected.
