I don't get it...
Why the sudden interest in killing Office 2013 so soon?
No additional updates for Office 2013 after February 2017
- Continue to use the Office 2013 version of the Office Deployment Tool.
- Configure your configuration.xml file to use the Version attribute when you download Office 365 ProPlus.
- Make sure that your users’ computers are configured to get updates from a location on your internal network. You can configure this either by using the Office Deployment Tool or by using Group Policy and the Update Path policy setting,

This thread title should be updated as it's a bit misleading...
I think this is directed at users of the "Office 365 Pro Plus" version only.
I believe if you are installing from a retail package or ISO (or MSDN etc) then we need not worry.

You can see the life cycle chart for Office 2013.
For Office 2013 Professional Plus (which I use) - mainstream (active) support runs until 4/10/2018 and then Extended Support kicks in thru 4/11/2023. No worries here :)

Understand how long you can continue to use the Office 2013 version of Office 365 ProPlus
You can continue to receive updates for the Office 2013 version of Office 365 ProPlus until February 2017. After February 2017, there will be no additional updates for the Office 2013 version. Therefore, we recommend that you upgrade to the Office 2016 version of Office 365 ProPlus as soon as possible.
If you choose to continue to deploy the Office 2013 version of Office 365 ProPlus, you need to do the following:
