Thank you, installed KB3161664 & got my updates. Once again, only trouble with the updater was on 7 64 systems, not 7 32.

Isn't patch Tuesday just turning into so much fun?

I just got 9 updates downloaded and installed in less than 10 minutes. Two "failed", but were then re-shown in WU, so I tried again and they succeeded.

I did install KB3161664 first by itself, but I have no idea if that made any difference.

    Hi,
Yea I had one that shows as canceled kb3115111 but also shows installed so not sure what's up with that other than it's an office update :/

I wasn't going to install the update first but cpu started taking off and I though life is short and 50% cpu on a dual core renders it useless
25% on a quad isn't too bad but I said what the hell and did it anyway.
Asus never showed any issues of course it never showed any updates either so I did on it too

    Yes an adventure indeed

Windows Update already had 14 Important updates available when I checked it (46 Optional updates also).

    I just tried installing KB3161664.
It only took a few seconds. :)

Lets see how long the others take (after I've rebooted).

    Additional
Since the required updates had already been determined, it took less than 10 minutes to install them.

KB3161664 will not install for me no matter what I do. I downloaded the standalone and double clicked on it - the installer sat there foor at least 15 mins at "looking for Windows Updates". This is on WIndows 7 x64 SP1 Enterprise.

EDIT: Scratch that. As soon as I copied the update to the desktop - I was golden.

And then when I rechecked WU - the other 8 important items this cycle came down in about a minute. Much better than last month.

Yep as long as you remember to disconnect from the internet or switch the update settings to never check for updates and restart the update should install in a few minutes.

Had to uninstall and hide kb/3159398 made my security permissions go wonky; Until I can learn how to give access to Authenticated Users in GPO without a GPO editor since I'm Home Premium, it will stay hidden.

I would rather not have to go into each and every program, folder, and file to do it manually.

I installed 3161664 first, and the search and installation went really quick.....I couldn't believe my eyes. I installed the remaining updates in 2 more groups and they all went in quick and easy! I haven't seen that happen so quickly like that in months, but it did this time. I'm running W7 Pro 64 bit.
I have no idea why, or if the improvement is temporary or permanent, but I hope the slow update war is over for good!
