I plan on getting a whole new PC before christmas time so oct/nov would be a great release time for me
I am also planning on purchasing a new computer at the end of the year.
Hopefully windows 7 will be available for inclusion on OEM manufactured computers for th 2009 Christmas holiday season. so that would mean it would need to be released to manufacturing a fair while before this so it may be that it will be available for retail purchase as early as October although M$ would probably release during December for maximum impact
this all assumes of course that the release candidate phase of development proceeds as well as the pre beta and beta
I suspect they will keeping their usual release schedule of seeing each new version released at the end of January 2010. Vista 1/31/07, XP 1/2001 following that trend. Any new machines bougth from July 1st on will see the same Anytime Upgrade offer for 7 with Vista preinstalled.
