Business Deployment of the Office Web Apps

Business Deployment of the Office Web Apps

    Posted: 18 Nov 2009
This post is for IT Professionals who may wish to host the Office Web Apps within your own organization on your own servers.  As we announced earlier this morning, the Office Web Apps are now available in a public beta for our business customers to try with SharePoint 2010.

Franklin Williams, a Program Manager on the Office Web Apps team, has posted information on the Web Apps blog about how to deploy Office Web Apps on-premise on a server running Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 or Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010.  His post will help anyone interested in evaluating the Beta and understanding how the Office Web Apps can work inside an organization’s IT infrastructure when they are released in 2010.

    Enjoy!

As far as I know it's still a closed Beta - but with the full beta being open you may well find you can get onto the program- I think a lot of people will be going for the full beta. The Click 2 Run is only the Home/Small business version so just the basic apps.

As for running it it's exactly the same as the normal one after the initial download period - th first time you load an app it downloads it but alter that it's a normal app

The web apps are going live soon if they're not already - that's the real change

I was pretty heavily involved in the C2R TP for Office 2010...I had quite a few discussions with MS Engineers on bugs I found and the sort so it has came of a bit of shock to me that I was not invited to the BETA for C2R...

Oh well..maybe they will open it up

If you were involved in the TP then you should be involved in the Beta - If you just go back into your dashboard on connect the TP entry should still be live - mine is

They added the new C2R download a few hours ago
