Hi,
What's the catch
No browser... safety scanner could scan a download like that
It would take a week to scan the download :)
Researchers will this week demonstrate a newly-refined data-transmission technique that can deliver one terabit per second (Tbps) over an optical fiber.
Nokia Bell Labs, Deutsche Telekom T-Labs and the Technical University of Munich will be showing off how a technique called Probabilistic Constellation Shaping, or PCS, can deliver blistering 1Tbps speeds over a fiber connection.
The work provides more momentum behind the push to bring terabit networks to reality. It follows another optical breakthrough earlier this year by researchers at University College London, who achieved speeds of 1.25Tbps.
To put that in perspective, they noted it was fast enough to download the entire Games of Thrones series in high definition within one second...

It's not about downloads. It's not for the user's endpoint.
This is for the trunking backbone.
5Mbps ok for HD streaming? I have very little issues with 3.xx Mbps HD or SD streaming. It does depend on this site-I am using. I came across a couple of issues jumpy commercials and rare instances of the video buffering.
Thrashzone,
I use Bitdefender Trafficlight in Firefox & Google Chrome. I don't use the online virus scanner plugins because they seem to slow down the browsers and sometimes even your system. Viruses/Malware will still be caught by your real-time scanner before the file is executed.
