Does installing this update also STOP/REMOVE the various 'Scheduled Tasks' that were created to phone home?
Some of them yes. The application experience ones are still there but you can disable those.
-
Thank you. Specifically are the 3 listed as "GWXTriggers" removed or stopped? I have been able to disable the other annoyances.
-
I can't see the GWXTrigger ones anymore so it looks like it.

So, I have the GWX Control Panel. I'm wondering, should I just keep that, or go ahead and install this update. GWX CP has done a great job of keeping W10 off my computer. Why should I do things differently at this point?
-
That's your choice of course but the update is a permanent fix by the authors of the problem. Why have an extra third party program which doesn't give you anything more and may in the future interfere with the way updates work, It's unlikely to be maintained now that the problem is resolved.

That's your choice of course but the update is a permanent fix by the authors of the problem.
Assuming you trust the author to actually fix the issue.
After all, they created the issue (unnecessarily) in the first place.

Well, look what showed up today in Windows Update: KB2952664. I am certain to have hidden it numerous times. Now the description is new:
This update performs diagnostics on the Windows systems that participate in the Windows Customer Experience Improvement Program. These diagnostics help determine whether compatibility issues may be encountered when the latest Windows operating system is installed. This update will help Microsoft and its partners ensure compatibility for customers who want to install the latest Windows operating system.
