Emergency Flash Player patch fixes zero-day critical flaw

Adobe Systems has released an emergency patch for Flash Player in order to fix a critical vulnerability that attackers are already taking advantage of.
Users are advised to upgrade to Flash Player 23.0.0.205 on Windows and Mac and to version 11.2.202.643 on Linux. The Flash Player runtime bundled with Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 and 8.1 will be updated automatically through those browsers' update mechanisms.

Unfortunately Adobe wont let me download the new version because I have Win10 and its "embedded". I have turned off Windows update because of problems with my machine/programs in the newer builds.

    Hi,
Flash Player vulnerabilities are typically exploited over the web when users browse to compromised websites or load malicious advertisements. To protect themselves against browser-based attacks, users should enable click-to-play, a feature that blocks plug-in-based content like Flash from running automatically until the user clicks on it.
However, it's worth noting that attackers have also embedded Flash Player exploits into Word documents that were then sent as attachments via email. This embedded Flash content runs when the document is opened

I prefer to d/l the stand alone installers when there is a flash update. Since I have multiple OS's & a couple lappys, I can apply them to all systems without a net connection.

I also like to avoid the Adobe update page that tries to get you to d/l some sort of crapware by putting little ads in the corner that are barely visible & if you don't uncheck them, you get an unwanted extra.

R Click on the links & select "save as" & you'll get the stand alone installer.

If you are still having trouble installing Adobe Flash Player, try downloading the installer directly from the following sites:

I notice Google Chrome hasn't update to the new flash.

    Adobe - Flash Player

I ran the Google Chrome update. I may try manually downloading Google Chrome & see if that works.

Some people have been having problems with the updates on the other forums also. Several people had problems with FF showing the older version even though the flash window in the control panel showed the correct version was in place. After reboot the correct updated version was displayed in the browser.

Perhaps this applies to Chrome also?

Chrome Flash Player should update automatically, however I do recall in the past where it didn't. You can update the Flash Player component manually if it's till showing an old version by typing chrome://components/ into the Chrome browser.

Thank you for those ideas. I don't know if any of that would of worked. I did download the offline google chrome installer & installed it. It did updated to the new version of Adobe flash. I have different browsers on my system, so I use each for different reasons.
