Warning: Attackers can Steal Windows Credentials using Google Chrome

At 74 I'm still a working PC tech. Of course, I'm not as busy as I once was.
But almost every time I go to work on a PC that I've never seen before, I find Chrome installed and trying to take over. I will ask my customer, "Do you use Chrome?".
And almost without fail I get an answer something like "What is it?".
Heck, they don't even know what it is, or where it came from and they just want it gone!
With great pleasure, I remove that thing that sneaks in like a virus and just like a virus tries to take over.
Then I make sure that Mozilla Firefox is up to date and that it's using a Secure Search Engine like "Startpage.com".
The only Chrome I like is that which is on my car!

I have an Win 7 credentials issue with my Win 7 Ultimate machine and don't know what to do about it.
That secondary machine is on my LAN and is only used for programme development for my use only. IOW, it's seldom used. I purchased it in 2007 and it was my primary machine until 2015, when I purchased the one I'm typing on now. I did have Chrome installed on the secondary machine for a few weeks, until I removed it in 2012 or 2013. It was fine with no Win authentication issues in 2015, but they first appeared in 2016.
I've always used the latest version of Firefox, otherwise.
How can I resolve this problem?

Can you explain, just what your 'Credential' problem is? With more info, someone might be able to help you. Maybe even start a new thread, concerning just your problem.
I'm not surprised that Chrome can be a problem. I find it on my customer's PC's and they have no idea what it is or where it came from. It acts just like a Computer Virus, sneaking onto people's PC's and then trying to take over. I delete it, wherever I find it.
I can't imagine ever downloading it and installing it on my own PC. I do download and test a lot of software and occasionally Chrome will sneak in on me. As soon as I discover it, I DELETE it!
I've been using Firefox since it took over from Netscape, years ago. I went through all the Beta versions and I was right there on Day One, when Mozilla released Firefox ver. 1.0, along with ONE MILLION other users.
You know their servers had to be smoking, after downloading one million copies of Firefox in just a 24 hr period. I'm glad I wasn't their IT guy!

Chromium is another nasty. You'll need to do regedit to get rid of Chromium. "Thorough" uninstalls won't completely remove it.
