Improvements and fixes
This security update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:
- Provides protections for an additional vulnerability involving side-channel speculative execution known as Lazy Floating Point (FP) State Restore (CVE-2018-3665) for 64-Bit (x64) versions of Windows.
- Security updates to Windows apps, Windows graphics, Windows Shell, Windows datacenter networking, Windows wireless networking, and Windows virtualization.

I did this on Tuesday, but not the rollup(yet) , no after effects.
You don't need to install the rollups and the Security-only updates, just install one or the other. The rollups already include the Security updates anyway, plus some additional fixes (none of which I've found are of any use to me). You're just wasting space on your drive if you install both each month.
Just be aware, if you install only the Security-only updates instead of the rollups, then you'll also have to install the IE cumulative security updates offline each month too.
