I've read that these cards use a technology (name escapes me)* that's really not fully used right now, and to make matters worse its been dumbed down so to speak. I'd get a 3000-based version which apparently is like a Titan, but cheaper.

* Ray Tracing!

From what I've read, Ray Tracing is an old tech that didn't have the hardware power until now to be implemented in consumer cards. Real time Ray Tracing is a power hog but it is a totally different -- and better -- way of rendering. This means the developers need to implement this into their engines.

What nVidia did is extraordinary, but Ray Tracing is still in its infant stage when it comes to proper implementation and smooth framerates.

Nevertheless, the RTXs deliver around 20-25% more raw power in gaming, compared to the prior generation and using the current rendering tech (non-RT).

Ray Tracing is a great step ahead but I think that we need to give it 10 more years to replace the current tech and work flawlessly.

Unfortunately for us consumers, nVidia took another giant leap in front of AMD and it will further enforce their monopoly on the high-end graphics market. This can only mean higher prices.
