    It isn't like the sources weren't good... Geeksmack is usually dependable. And someone said that WinFuture.de may have started the whole thing. But, in the end the moral of the story: Don't believe everything you hear!

    Hi

    What I found interesting with the original post was not the number of the build but the designation winmain_win7rc1 which was said to indicate that the build was on the release candidate branch.

    Apart from this particular report the latest build number I have come across is 7046 with the consensus that 7041 exists. Annoyingly even the latest videos from MS still show the 7000 build number :)

    It would be nice to confirm that the current status of development is still in Beta or on the RC branch, I have not got access to the build numbers for the release candidate for Vista but can anyone confirm if it even followed this format ?

    M$ doesn't want you to see it yet unfortunely but I think that when they do we might see it a week early on torrent.
