Requires 1024x768 minimum resolution which leaves us netbook users with 1024x600 out in the cold. I am convinced that MSFT does not want the netbook to gain any traction. No animated boot screen and the god awful Win7 Starter edition. Cost me $80 bucks for an upgrade to home premium just to get a non-crippled OS.

well, you really shouldn't get Windows 7 for a netbook.

    netbooks are total shit.

why do you think there so cheap?

a cheap fullblown laptop is of simular price and better hardware.

you choose wrong. better luck next time.

The curious thing for me is that on my primary computer, the boot animation includes the flying windows, but on my secondary computer it only has the striped progress bar, despite the fact that as far as I know, the OSs were installed identically in each.

I want someone from Microsoft to tell why they ripped off the Playstation 2 boot animation for Windows 7!

    @ seekermeister
Less like 1024x768 px and you have the striped progress bar.

Whilst you are dissing netbooks here, let me just remind you of one thing....

If someone just likes to surf the net and do word processing/spreadsheets and take the netbook here there and everywhere, then a netbook is more than sufficient!!

I for instance have just become the owner of a Acer Aspire One netbook, i just upgraded to 2GB of ram, it has a dual core Atom with Hyperthreading and i can tell you one thing, it is just as quick at doing the basics as my main PC (Down in the specs).

@DMEX - Dude, your video links don't work.

Animated boot requires a minimum 1024x768 resolution. More than likely your second computer has defaulted to 800x600.

Start Orb > Control Panel > select view by large icons at the upper right> Select Display> Select "adjust resolution" from the menu on the left> change the resolution from the dropdown menu in the middle of the window.

If you don't have a selection of 1024x768 or higher either your video driver is out of date or the video card is not capable of the minimum. Hope this helps.
