Again, it isn't aimed at home users, it's meant for large businesses/enterprise customers. We won't get them offered to us, even if using 7 Pro.

Being ready to rebuild my desktop, the thing I need to decide on is stick with 7, or drop 10 on it and deal with it.
If I could quote Thor Strindberg from anno 2070, "Now you can't even be bothered, to conceal your snooping!"

My feeling exactly.
EDIT: I know and love Linux, but my most used applications are in John Haller's PortableApps suite.
It doesn't run in Linux, AFAIK, but I haven't logged on to their forum in ages, so I don't know, since it was designed just after Sandisk's U3 came out {and died}. Migrating all the Mozilla data will be the greatest headache. Then there's the non-Mozilla stuff. IIRC, what I did was go into each U3 application and extract/copy/move those data files to their equivalent PAsuite programmes, made easy by the spellings being identical in most cases and their sub-folders. Not sure if that would be possible in any distro of Linux. Another thing, in light of several NAND memory failures that the PA suite actually runs faster on an old fashioned disk drive, so now it resides on its own 1TB 2.5inch laptop drive inside this all SATA workstation that also includes my backup Fonts collection and other legacy stuff going way back to W'98.
With W10, if I have to, I just move the drive over, with Linux a lot of hard work to get where I am now, but at least these days Linux can read NTFS.
Still don't know what path I'm taking.
