How to get this update

Before installing this update

Microsoft strongly recommends you install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system before installing the latest Rollup. SSUs improve the reliability of the update process to mitigate potential issues while installing the Rollup and applying Microsoft security fixes.

If you are using Windows Update, the latest SSU (KB4490628) will be offered to you automatically. To get the standalone package for the latest SSU, search for it in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Install this update

This update is now available for installation through WSUS.

To get the standalone package for this update, go to the Microsoft Update Catalog website.

I can confirm this happens:

You can still look through event viewer if you stay away from custom views and logs.

Didn't happen to me, but these days I'm primarily using my W7 PC like a second TV and staying away from strange places.
So maybe I don't have that particular snap-in.
The little group I'm in are still waiting for W10 Enterprise LTSC 2020 before building new PCs, that way we'll split the cost on a VL and get only the security updates until 2030 but without all the gobblety-gook and UI changes, plus using John Haller's PortableApps, will be like getting a second start menu {that defaults to the right side} when installed on harddisk. Like I have with W7.
We don't use any M$ consumer applications, all open source, like LibreOffice.
We're all old, by 2030 some of us might be dead.

Hi Blue Guy,

Well it did say 'you may', did you try clicking on custom views or the windows logs? If you do event viewer will start loading the snap-in and fail, that's when the error occurs.

You're better than the majority of us if you did try clicking on those two areas and the snap-in loaded.

I got the 'invite' to upgrade to 1903 yesterday will be busy all day today so maybe later this evening. I to try to stay open source.

2030? I'll be 78 by then, does that still make me a young geezer?

No, you're just about on par with me and my other old farts from work.

No need to be sorry, just wanted to make sure you knew what triggered it.

That is a nice color combination. I saw it by using the url that was in your quote
Code:

I just pasted it into the address bar of a different tab. Not sure why the forum won't show it, though my browser shows tinypic as an unsecured site.
