Test Updates for Windows 7 Beta Users
Test updates for Windows 7 Beta (Build 7000)
Next week Windows 7 beta users will get a variety of updates, only they aren't really updates.
Instead, Microsoft said in will sending the patches to test the operating system's updating mechanism.
The company stressed the updates won't actually add new features or update anything.
Brandon LeBlanc explained the nature of the updates in a blog posting Thursday (note that the emphasis is his):
Starting February 24, we will be releasing up to 5 test updates to PCs running the Windows 7 Beta (Build 7000) via Windows Update. These updates allow us to test and verify our ability to deliver and manage the updating of Windows 7. We typically verify servicing scenarios during a beta.
Windows 7 Beta users will be notified that new updates are available beginning February 24 through Windows Update. Even if the user has Windows Update configured for automatic update - these test updates will not install automatically. Users will need to manually install the test updates through Windows Update.
These updates do not deliver new features or bug fixes. The test updates simply replace system files with the same version of the file currently on the system.

Aham, have also red that, and that they are calling it "system updates" and that they are nothing but test, but I don't believe that they are "nothing" and just a test, cos they are getting enough feedbacks from all of us "average users" and a few hundreds "under the loop".And we alone can see that everythings works fine, even better then ever,in control panel under "windows updates",even they are giving a choice "important" and "recommended",and all updates were successfull. And again, that updates were not just downloaded but that they were successful, they know as well as we.Hmmm.
Then what should be delivered on februar 24th?Maybe they are really planning to release RC before August,so why let us use free beta(RC1 without minor graphic improvements) version when we are all willing to buy RC1 anyway?
It's easier and more cost efficient to send a new end date via this "no update" system updates, and send us to the stores in April or May for example.
But why am I bothering when that are "nothing" updates? We done what we were ment to do
Actually, 4 and a half. lol
