Saks Fifth Avenue Holidays “Windows” and Holiday Themes

Saks Fifth Avenue Holidays “Windows” and Holiday Themes

A couple of weeks ago, I blogged about how we were partnering with Saks Fifth Avenue on decorating their windows along both 5th Ave and 50th Street in NYC to help celebrate the holidays. You can check out the unveiling which took place in New York City on November 23rd here.

During the unveiling, Kristen Chenoweth and the chorus of PS22 performed live to help spread the holiday cheer as the windows went “live.” If you’re in New York and are doing some shopping, you should definitely stop by Saks and check out the “Twinkle Twinkle Little Flake” windows. There are 20 HD monitors (a combination of 52”, 42”, 36” and 32” displays) in the holiday windows on 5th Avenue running custom animations all powered by Windows 7 PCs. I’m told window 19 is quite impressive – it literally is a wall of monitors. We also have a PC Lounge on the 9th floor that gives you a great opportunity to test-drive Windows 7 for yourself if you haven’t already!

On top of showcasing Windows 7, the Saks windows on 50thStreet also feature Windows 7-powered monitors with a live holiday wishes Twitter feed. People wanting to help take part in spreading holiday cheer can share their holiday wishes via Twitter by including the hastag #holidaywindows with their tweet. These tweets show up in the windows for folks to see in New York City!

If you can’t make it to NYC to see the windows in person, you can download the Windows 7 “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Flake” Holiday Theme for your Windows 7 PC! It features artwork straight from the book that the holiday windows are based on – the book was written by Mike Reiss, who also wrote for The Simpsons.

Finally, if you’re wanting go a little further with decking out your Windows 7 PC for the holidays, check out this post by fellow Microsoftie Sean Alexander. He offers up another Holiday Theme for Windows 7, a Yule Log Visualization for Windows Media Player in Windows 7, and more!
