Microsoft asks Windows 7 testers for their photo

Microsoft has launched a Windows 7 Photo Contest for its beta testers. Five winners will get some Windows 7 swag for their efforts.

Last night, Redmond sent out an e-mail to participants of the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Beta Program telling them about a Windows 7 Photo Contest that some of those with tinfoil hats might not like. Essentially, Microsoft wants these testers to send in a photo of themselves in their beta testing environment, near a well-known landmark, or somehow displaying their passion and enthusiasm for technology. The file must be a JPEG and must include their first and last name, as well as their Microsoft Connect handle. In return, Microsoft will choose five random winners who will get some Windows 7 swag.

The full body of the e-mail has been removed after a request from Microsoft.

You are joking of course right?
I for one do find this to be concerning & won't be participating in the "Give MS All your Personal Information" Contest...

I was a beta tester that sent back crash info & the like during the beta & RC testing of W7U but that's were I draw the line...

Awwww.... gee my web cam broke when aimed at me! Sorry MS no photo available!

I think you will find that this contest is directed to those who were initially paid to test 7 by the hour not simply anyone who signed back in January. Plus MS has been much more involved in promoting tv ads for 7 then with any previous version. You turn you look and there's a new ad seen!
