They would be doing a lot of their users a huge favor. Apple QT along with iTunes has always been a bane on any system I've used and troubleshooted.
more: TechRadar UKMicrosoft has some good news for movie fans. If you want to watch .mov files in Windows 7, you don't need to install Apple's QuickTime. Bye, bye annoying system tray icon! Adios, Apple update!
The support for .mov files was mentioned deep in a long list of changes that are coming to the Windows 7 Release Candidate.

THANK YOU!!!! Please I hope this is true.
I HATE Quicktime and Apple. The worst part about it was even if you clicked on the option to not install Apple Update, they did it anyways. And no matter how many times youd remove it, itd come back.
IF this is true, than I would be happy to proclaim.....Justice has been served!
I have only ever used Quicktime Alternative and it doesn't come with all the junk that you get with Quicktime, good move Microsoft.
Awesome even if I don't use WMP.
So, I say, good bye iTunes.
For the longest time you needed QT on simply to see somethings supported. Even with only ITunes on you constantly see the QT+ITunes+Bonjour update annoyances. Don't forget the third item.
Yet the Safari 4 beta works well on 7. But QT and ITunes never went on. I keep those on Vista or XP only. WMP 12 is the only media player on 7 so far.
