One: No I'm not joking; it would lead to a safer web browsing community if they banned all pornographical materials and such under the same categories so parents wouldn't have to worry about leaving their kids on the computers alone.

Two: Children are made through sexual reproduction. But pornography is to sell your sex tapes online is just sick and wrong. I mean who cares to see other people naked and having sex on their desktop? I've kept my sex life personal just to me and my partner and no one else knows about it but honestly who wants to know what you do in your own life..?

So in other words, just because you are personally opposed to pornography and believe that the onus of parenting responsibility should be transfered to a government entity instead of parents actually PARENTING, everybody else should be punished for others ineptitude?

You are right in one aspect. It's not a joke. It's not even remotely funny.

I mean if they don't want kids seeing it under aged then it shouldn't be on there and seriously if you are watching it you need to get off your ass and go find someone and actually get laid. It's sick to watch others sexual intercourse for stimulus pleasure. Parents do have a part in telling their kids not to watch or look at it but there is parts of responsibility to the government also. If they didn't want minors watching it provide age verification from drivers licenses or credit cards. Kids can easily access pornographical materials these days and yes I have before when I was younger but I've changed over the course of time. Well I mean isn't it not good to watch others for pleasure? It's not really a punishment unless you constantly rely on porn for your sexual desires. I'm not bringing religion into this because I'm a Non-religious person.

And yes it isn't even remotely funny at all bringing this into perspective. There are children everyday being hurt and molested by sexual perverts who crawl all over the net.

PARENTING is no part of the governments responsibility. Kevin Rudd/Stephen Conroy IS NOT my babies father!

Great idea! that'll really help to make the internet a safer place!

I'm not going to comment on how you may have "changed" over time, that's your prerogative, and as long as you're not hurting others, there's no harm done.
If access to pornographical material is banned, it will only serve to create a black market trade for it. This will eventually involve underground organisations, as a highly profitable cash market will always interest them.
Sexual maturation begins well before the age of consent. The mental maturity to understand the full implications of the physiological changes that occur does not develop until much later on in life.
Do you really want these partly sexually mature, mentally immature, horny little niaive teenagers to have to contact underground organisiations to access pornography? Seriously, what would that lead to? Would you want your kids involved in the drug/weapon/sex trade just so they could look at a playboy magazine?

Are you writing this to impress your girlfriend, who visits sevenforums regularly and busted you with porn recently?

You haven't brought perspective to this thread at all, only your own confusion.
    pornography does not equal molestation.
Child pornography exists only because of the existance of child molestors. If you want child pornography to cease to exist, the molestors to cease to exist. Restricting access will only serve to drive them further underground, forcing them into much tighter, organised communities that will only be much harder to infiltrate and penalise. The ONLY way to stop it in my opinion is through much harsher penalties.

    *sigh* Where to begin?

Firstly, I have not been an advocate of pornography, no matter what form it entails. I am an advocate of using MY MIND to determine what is right or wrong for me.

Kids can easily access pornographical materials these days and yes I have before when I was younger but I've changed over the course of time.
Yes they can. But ultimately that has nothing to do with me.

Why should I, an adult with the intellect to determine right from wrong and who has no children, nor any interest in them, be denied an 'occasional titillation' because of other peoples shortcomings?

Well I mean isn't it not good to watch others for pleasure?
It appears that perhaps you yourself had an issue with it in the past and that statement is the result of a personal rationalization that helps you deal with it. If so, I'm sorry you went down that road - but by comparison, you are in the minority.

I'm not bringing religion into this because I'm a Non-religious person.
Nor should it be. But in Australia's case, it does come into it, considering it's being used as a guise to fool people into accepting something they ultimately have no idea about.

Placing 'child' and 'pornography' in the same sentence is a guaranteed method to switch off logical thought and is an easy 'media mantra' to parrot.

There are children everyday being hurt and molested by sexual perverts who crawl all over the net.
Which Australia's filter is completely inept at stopping. I hate to break it you, but child abuse existed long before the internet and will continue regardless. That is the sad fact of reality.

In fact, I suspect that sexual assaults will see a rise, not a decline.

So at the risk of repeating myself yet again, the only 'real' protection this filter will provide is to ensure re-election from the 'appeased sheeple'.

I've had too many reports for this thread now, I'm closing it before it gets out of hand.
